Newport Chess Congress 2024
We are gearing up at after Easter to get the ball rolling with spreading the word about the Newport Chess Congress. Here is a flyer. Details can be found at https://newportchesscongress.uk Please feel free to start spreading the word!
2nd Aberystwyth Rapidplay Tournament – 17th Feb 2024
With one week to go we are still open for entries into the 2nd Aberystwyth Rapidplay on February 17th 2024.
The venue is Gwleidyddiaeth Ryngwladol International Politics, Aberystwyth SY23 3FE.
The entry costs are £18 for Aberystwyth Students, Alumni and Under 18s/Juniors and £23 for all others
It will be a 7 round tournament with the first round starting at 11am and the last round starting at 5pm and they will be starting on the hour each time.
The time control is 15+5.

Christmas get together at the Club Monday 18th December 7pm
Just a reminder that we will be holding a get together at the Club on 18th December which is a Monday.

Can I say thanks to Peter Slater for finding this snippet from the paper.
It shows our very own Ron Williams and others from the BSO chess team from a few years back.
I think the trophy is still used to day for the winners of the league.?!
Payment of Subs
Can I gently remind those who have yet to pay their subscriptions that these should be made soon. Jon Gilbert has to pay zone fees to the WCU by the end of October.
If Dave Norris could receive the subs then he will forward payment to Jon Gilbert.

South Wales Autumn Congress
The South Wales Autumn Congress is held on Sat 7th – Sun 8th October 2023 this year at the Mercure Cardiff North Hotel in Cardiff. Details can be found at:
Club Night – 27th Sept 2023 – 7pm
We are having a club night on Wednesday 27th Sept 2023 at 7pm. We have some new members who wish to join our club so can we give them a nice welcome.
Afterwards, we can play fun chess!

Gwent fixtures are in!
The Gwent fixtures for Division 1 and Division 2 are now available and the Malpas games can be found under the Gwent League item on the menu of this site.
Note that Division 1 is a 4 board league team; whereas, Division 2 is a 3 board league team.
Also the names of the players are provisionally allocated to the teams under the sub-menu Teams.
