Well done to Ron Williams (shown) and Bob Wiltshire of Malpas Chess Club for bringing home a well deserved rating prize achieving 3/5 at the Gwent Closed Championship 2026 held in Pontypool’s Headquarters at Sebastopol Club. It was a great event with 16 or so entrants. May we at Malpas convey our congratulations to Cwmbran’s Jon Gilberts and Pontypool’s Chris Dixon for claiming the joint title of Gwent Chess Champions!
