Malpas chess player Ella Green (4/5 pts) achieved joint 2nd place in the Minor section of the Newport Chess Congress which was held over the weekend of the 21 to 23 August 2026.
Ella drew in the last round 5, with the winner Jai Hrithvik Adithya Are (4.5/5 pts) in a fiercely competitive match to secure 2nd place.
