A View from the Bar.
Peter had his opponent in a bit of a straggle hold and was ahead on time – the sort of position where no one could really win but both sides could easily have lost so a draw was agreed – a fair result.
Liam seemed to come out worse in a Caro Kann where his opponent appeared to have an early attack but Liam went on to neutralise the attack, created two connected passed pawns and went on to win in style.
Simon played really well and was about to win one or maybe two pawns in the middle game when his opponent blundered the exchange and resigned.
Jack was unfortunate when he missed an attack in the Scotch Gambit and was subject to a forced mate at move 9.
